GRAPH-LOCK® is composed of pure, exfoliated flake material. It excels in extreme conditions and withstands high temperatures, high pressures, and aggressive chemicals. It also provides excellent resistance and is proven to be fire-safe.
GRAPH-LOCK® gasketing provides a reliable seal as it seals easily under moderate bolt load, offers superior torque retention, retains dimensional stability in high temperatures and seals tightly, even during pressure fluctuations. Flexible graphite is manufactured in such a manner that no organic or inorganic binders and fillers are introduced — the end product is essentially pure graphite with outstanding physical properties. The insertion of wire mesh, stainless steel foil, and tanged metal inserts increase strength and ease of handling.
GRAPH-LOCK® gasketing is available in two grades: industrial grade, which is 98% pure, and nuclear grade, which is 99.5% pure. It is available as standard homogeneous sheet or metal- inserted sheet for applications requiring extra strength.
Purified graphite sheet flexible graphite gasketing
The graphite flake has been acid washed, expanded under heat, and then compressed into sheets with a minimum graphite content of 98%. For thicknesses under 1/16” homogenous graphite is used. For thicknesses over 1/16” laminated graphite is used. The laminated graphite sheets are bonded with a proprietary adhesive. This adhesive makes up less than 1% of the total laminated weight.
Laminated graphite sheet with a 316SS wire mesh insert
GRAPH-LOCK® 3124 and 3126 feature laminated layers of purified natural graphite flake that have been acid washed, expanded under heat, and then compressed into sheets with a minimum graphite content of 98%. This sheet contains a 0.0075” thick – JC thick 316 stainless steel wire mesh (24 mesh) insert, bonded with a proprietary adhesive. This adhesive makes up less than 1% of the total laminated weight.
GRAPH-LOCK® 3125SS has laminated layers of 0.015″ purified natural graphite flake that have been acid washed, expanded under heat and then compressed into sheets with a minimum graphite content of 98%. This sheet contains a 0.002” thick 316 stainless steel foil insert, bonded with a proprietary adhesive. This adhesive makes up less than 1% of the total laminated weight.
