METALLIC GASKETS

Metal gaskets are designed to withstand extreme temperatures, pressures and chemical exposure. Available in standard and custom configurations, these rugged metal gaskets are made of a wide range of materials to accommodate all types of process applications.

Spiral wound gaskets—made with an alternating combination of formed metal wire and soft filler materials—form a very effective seal when compressed between two flanges. A v-shaped crown centered in the metal strip acts as a spring, giving gaskets greater resiliency under varying conditions. Filler and wire material can be changed to accommodate different chemical compatibility requirements

» Durable; easy installation and removal

» Seals pressures to flange ratings, in accordance with ASME

 B16.5 & B16.47

» Suitable for temperatures from cryogenic to 2,000°F (1,093°C)*

» Guide ring simplifies centering of sealing element on the flange

 face

» Designed solutions accommodate a variety of conditions by

combining various metals and filler materials

Serrated solid metal core gasket faced with soft, deformable sealing materials such as flexible graphite, PTFE or THERMa-PUR®.

  • Seals less-than-perfect flanges to form a tighter connection
  • Performance replacement for jacketed heat exchanger gaskets
  • Fire safe—passed API 6FB fire tests
  • Available in HEAT SHIELD® configuration for high temp applications above 850°F (454°C)
  • Solid metal core resists cold flow, over compression, and blowout
  • Rigid core provides exceptional stability, even in large sizes, and facilitates handling and installation
  • Available in wide variety of metals
  • Seals under low stress—ideal for lighter weight flange designs
  • Withstands extreme fluctuations in temperatures and pressures
  •
  • Gasket Factor “m”= 4.0
  • Gasket Factor “y” = 1,000 PSI (NOTE: When designing flanges Garlock recommends using a "y" of 4,000 PSI to ensure the flange design is thick enough to avoid excessive deformation when assembled and heated.)

Single-jacketed gasket

Single-jacketed gaskets are constructed by encasing the soft filler material on one face and both edges. The metal jacket acts as reinforcement for the soft sealing material.  Style 620 is generally used where the radial dimensions of the equipment sealing surfaces only allow space for a narrow width seal.

Double-jacketed metallic gasket

Double jacketed gaskets are constructed using one piece of metal to cover the bottom and edges of the soft sealing material, and an additional piece of metal to completely cover the face.  Style 623 has good compressibility and resilience and is the most popular clad gasket manufactured
