Flexible core, braided valve packing that combines two proven Garlock yarns to provide premium service in high temperature and pressure valve stem services.

This proprietary product employs a PBI® yarn encapsulating INCONEL® alloy wire braided over a LATTICE BRAID® carbon yarn core. The encapsulated INCONEL® wire eliminates stem wear, and the braided carbon yarn ensures a flexible core.

An excellent valve stem packing for use in high temperature and pressure steam service.

The construction features an outer jacket of wire-reinforced carbon yarn over an improved core, allowing increased service life. The unique construction of the outer jacket encapsulates the INCONEL® alloy wire reinforcement in the carbon yarn. There is no wire in contact with the stem, making stem wear almost nonexistent.

Patented cup and cone design of die-formed graphite rings

The Garlock patented cup and cone design of die-formed graphite rings—used in 9000 EVSP®, QUICKSET® 9001 valve packing sets, and DSA-series pump packing sets—provides superior performance compared to flat, die-formed rings.

  • I.D. and O.D.-specific pure graphite rings provide low friction and superior sealing at high temperatures
  • The cup & cone design increases radial expansion of the sealing rings up to 1/8in / 3.2 mm or more
  • Better sealing and room for later adjustment prolongs the life of the packing
  • Varying density of the graphite rings allows for direct loading of the center seal rings by the gland follower

Constructed from a high-quality carbon fiber core and a PTFE shell to reduce friction where air operated valves are used for steam, water, air, and process control applications.

The unique combination of materials optimizes the low friction qualities of PTFE and the structural integrity of high-quality carbon fiber to achieve superior sealing with lower friction for valve stem actuation. Packing is available in spool stock and die formed ring sets for end user convenience.

Style 5882 LSP

A combination set of GRAPH-LOCK® and Style 5882 rings for nuclear applications. Style 5882 LSP Set is a die formed engineered graphite set with Style 5882 end rings. The LSP set has the best sealing with higher heat dissipation.

If a lower PTFE content/higher temperature set is needed, Style 5882 can be used as end rings and combined with GRAPH-LOCK® center rings. Please contact Applications Engineering or the Product Line for recommendations.

This engineered set is configured to offer consistent sealing performance over a wide temperature range in shallow stuffing boxes. The compact design of QUICKSET® helps reduce valve stem friction over other taller set designs, resulting in a more efficient, less costly use of plant resources to control actuated valves.

  • Field proven Garlock “Cup and Cone” design allowing radial expansion and conformability to accommodate valves that may not be in ideal condition.

Combines Style 98 carbon packing and GRAPH-LOCK® cup and cone die-formed rings to form a nearly chemically inert set.

The 9000-EVSP® Simplified set expands radially when the gland is tightened, creating a positive valve stem OD seal as well as stuffing box ID seal.

  • Patented “cup and cone” design permits selective component compression and controlled radial flow for effective sealing of I.D. and O.D.
  • End rings act as wiper rings to restrict graphite particle transfer, prevent extrusion and provide extra resiliency
